Yes, the good old SV boot, made to last and never let you down. Had the same pair for years.

Can't remember which unit I was in at the time but some bright spark had a small rubber stamp made up which was the imprint of the sole of the boot.

This appeared everywhere, on DRO's, Standing Orders ...

1. Something about having a catapult ?

2. I have no money for my laundry bill ?

3. Refers to the salt being about finished ?

What about a lunch time session in Jessies in Malta early 1960's. Put an edge on the appetite with a bottle of Marsovin, screech, toot, call it what you like. Had to be tempered with a wee top of 7 Up! Could become quite addictive !

Even if you do get in the Corps with present qualifications you may decide not to make a career of it and perhaps serve ten or twelve years as many do.

You then leave still as a young man looking for a new career in civvy street, where the better the qualifications, the ...
