The army don't do 8 weeks then get full pay. Phase 1 is 12 weeks, followed by trade training, which is usually another 12 weeks. So in total it's around 24 weeks. And once RM's finish training, as Sticky said, get paid more than a regular Army Infantryman anyway. It's not that bad a deal, really.

Bloody hell this thread is getting depressing. I'm 24 this november and Hopefully I will be in phase 1 training by this time. I'm volunteering to do the AACC after training and you lot are making me feel like I'd better avoid it for fear of swallowing my false teeth..
