I'm applying for the RM's from overseas, and my overseas contact sent me the preliminary information with some pamphlets and brochures.

He said that I would have to provide "confirmation of non-liability for military service in your country"(canada ...

Ran today, went all out and got a time of 18:18 on my 3 miler...I'm still riding on the high from that...cheers lads

Oh and lodgi...my running was abysmal last september too...I found sprinting up hills and running longer distances helped. Good luck buddy.

Daveb, I think I'm doing pressups correctly, I really want to be able to knock out 60 in 2 mins though. More work do be done there but I'm definately going to apply now.

Pick up a US Army Ranger handbook, it's a great guide both for information on fieldcraft and basic leadership tactics for platoon to squad level command.

Also look at the US Infantryman's manual and survival manual.

You'll probably have to purchase these on amazon, but worth it if you want a good ...

I am finalizing my training to make the application to Royals. I was simply going to apply as a Commonwealth citizen, but recently discovered I am actually a British citizen (through my mother) yet I have never lived in the UK, I was born and raised in Canada.

As far as I know, you sound like you'd be eligible. Just contact the Overseas London Office (0044 207 305 3328) and talk to a WO Brown, he was the one who helped me. Be prepared to spend the best part of a year between the date you apply, and when you get a date to begin Recruit Training.

I ask because I believe for the Royal Marines you can (just found this out) ask online for a overseas application package, once they have your application and necessary ...

Hi all, I'm Canadian, turning 17 soon and am very keen on joining the Royal Marines.
I read on the RM website that citizens from commonwealth countries are eligible to be a Royal Marine Commando, but must reside in Britain for 5 years prior to making their application.
