It's purely based on merit, they take the people with the best AIB scores (i think that the POC factors into this score to a small extent). Last year they had about 58 places and i believe twice as many people passed both. Physically you should be one of the strongest candidates on your POC to stand...

I had a virus about a month before my POC and carried on traing through it (not a good idea), it led to post viral fatige and eventually i was in bed completely knackered for about a week.
