Re: Life in the Royal Marines
I have a girl and have been in a couple years now, it can definitely be tough sometimes. It's harder for them than it is for us. Leave will depend on what unit you get posted to and what is happening in the world obvisouly. But personally Ive had lots of leave and long weekends etc, plenty of time s...

Re: PJFT Prep
Yeah that does sound better, what sort of 6 miler are you doing? (ie best effort, jog, intervals?).. Because I would suggest making that either a fartlek or interval run. Even map out the mile points on it and jog the first mile then run the next (aiming for a 6 minute mile).. And repeat that 3 time...

Re: PJFT Prep
Got two things here for you mate: 1. NOTHING will make these runs feel easier- Even when you're a trained rank you will be hanging out on runs because if you aren't then you're not working hard enough, but you will be running a lot faster. I dread doing 1.5 mile best efforts because its honking runn...

Re: Royal Marine Accomodation after training
Yea you will most likely be sharing a room, and it could be anything from 1 to 6 other people from what I've seen. I can only vouch for 43 cdo's accom personally though (it's hoofing!). We share 2 man rooms with double beds and an en suite shower room. Iv seen accom at 40 cdo and it was like a big r...

Re: Royal Marines or Para's?
Think of all the SQ's you can specialise in with the marines, you'll be working with a great bunch of lads and you will get to enjoy Lympstone for 32 weeks! What more could you want from life! Seriously there's lads who have passed out that had far worse scores than that, you do really need some tim...

Re: Royal Marines
What are you're fitness levels like just now? If you're fit but heavy then the only problem will be the medical for you. To lose weight I would personally start of doing long slow runs about 4 times a week and eat healthily ie. still eat enough food but don't indulge in crap like chocolate and take ...

Re: I need some advice on how to get fit enough to join.
14 years old.. I would enjoy you're childhood just now! As tab said keep yourself active, maybe try and get into a sports team. When you're older and maturer then you can think about getting yourself fit enough to pass the tests.

Passed PRMC
Hi everyone, a quick update. Just wanted to say a massive thanks to this site, it has been a gold mine of information! 5 years ago when I first became a member this site helped me get fit and keep me motivated. Although there’s been times I got side tracked a bit I have finally got my finger out and...
