Avoid using new hessian. Try and get your hands on some old manky stuff as it's far easier to use. Another good tip which may sound daft to a few of you is to keep your eyes peeled when a recruit troop comes back from their final ex as they tend to bin their old head and shoulders once they are sur...

cut the sandbag into strips roughly 10cm long and a couple cm thick. for around the top of the head thread a strip through a hole in the scrim net and tie it as if you were tying a shoelace (the first part where you go left over right and pull it tight). That will happily stay on. For around the sid...

I passed POC and AIB with a B, C and E at A-Level. Selection for the batch is extremely competitive and even after passing you're not guaranteed a place (hence why I'm not in one ) I have heard since that only around 9% or YO's have no degree, so although you can pass an AIB without a degree (f...

The flash on page 2 immediately below the Commando shoulder flash is the parachute qualified flash. All RM personnel that are parachute qualified wear this flash, it's a white parachute with sky blue wings. Here's a description of most other common flashes. I'm pretty sure this is correct: (all desc...

Fun?! Imagine doing bottom field determination tests in mud up to your eyeballs... 60 guys in the troop, you can have 59 super switched on lads and one lad who isn't and it's mud runs for everybody... Funny on their first ex, wonder how quiet my troop will be now, if everyone watched the show and sa...

Hi Darren, I read the thread and to be honest I think it at best covers info already found here, and at worst offers dangerous advice. This fella 'GreenBeret' strikes me as being a bit suspect. He talks about his time at BUD/s which is Navy Seal training. The American Green Beret's are Army SF. If y...

You shouldn't have to break in your running shoes, all modern running shoes should be good to go (as long as you have the correct style for your size, gait, foot width etc...) out of the box. If you're getting blisters on certain parts of your feet from running in them, it could be down to your feet...

I havent ran just 3 miles for some time, but done just over with a 5k which is 3.1 miles a few weeks back in 16.36, should be able to get under 16 for 3 miles though!. Wow that's an impressive time, it was only the other day that I was reading an article about the 10th fastest female athlete in Ame...

I know the majority of YO's had laptops, but they have there own rooms in the mess. I think it's likely that a lot of the recruits in RT have laptops, probably when they're out of foundation and into the four man rooms. The diamonds we spoke to on PRMC said that some lads had chipped in a bought TV'...

Btw, if you run witha short stride length your time will be exactly the same as with a long stride length when the speed you run at is dictated by the treadmill Howd you work this out? A treadmill belt runs at a certain revolutions per minute and the added weight on you running on this slows it dow...
