The barb test is easy, dont worry about it, when i had mine booked i was worried, even though i knew it was easy. That is just human nature, it is fine so dont worry about it at all, you all will fly through it.

I just got back from RSC and ran it in 11:18, i was unfit at the time and i am lucky that i am quite fit in general, evidently i passed RSC, but we had some idiot there, he was sixteen years of age and he said he could run the 1.5 mile in six minutes!

What is the selection proceedure for the RMP?
Same as everyone else, RSC, i think a technical test at the rsc e.g math test depending on GCSE results or other qualifications.

- Is there high competition for places in the RMP?

Got my date for basic

Got my date for basic, on the 9th of january 2006. Royal engineers, so either at lichfield or pirbright. Pirbright being where i went for RSC and passed.

Any tips, anything i should bring with me that they dont tell us to or any tips in general for me?

That is bloody fast...but put him in combats and in the desert for a month seeing no action, tired and hungry stressed and faces a charge at first light, just woken, confused and then see if he can shoot that fast.

Of course they can hold there own in combat, maybe not so much when you compare and experienced infantry man with an engi, but that is to be expected. All soldiers are 'trained to fight', all engineers are trained to fight and also in combat engineer training which of course can be useful in the ...
