The length of the selection process depends not only on how quickly you complete each stage of the process but also on the start dates of courses that you will undertake. Expecially your basic trade training (after recruit training). The aim is for you to start this training as soon as possible ...

Biggles is right on the money. Qualifications gained prior to application to join will be a pre-requisite for many trades. However, once you are in, they have little clout on your annual appraisal that, ultimately, gets you promoted. That said, if you continue to study once in the service, your ...

I think I may have the answer for you. Whilst you are correct in stating that a standard size swimming pool is 25M (50M for Olympic Standard), most pools at RAF stations are old "pre-meteric" sizes and, as such are 30m.

In any case, the levels set are the minimum and you should aim to exceed these.

Pre Joining Fitness Test

This treadmill run is a recent addition to the selection process for all ground trade RAF applicants and not just RAF Regt. The reason for the 12 seconds is that this is the level worked out by professional fitness gurus, based on a whole raft of factors. I promise you that many applicants will be ...

At the appropriate time the AFCO will give you a booklet called "The Next Step". In this document you will find example questions that you will get in your AST (Airmans Selection Test). Basically, these questions are structured in the same way as the ones you will get on test day.
The AST is ...

No they are not. However, fitness is fitness. Upper body strength is critical on the course proper and pull ups are a good way to achieve that.

Remember - You have 2 eyes, 2 ears and 1 mouth. Use them in that proportion and you will be fine.
That's a really great piece of advice - never heard it put like that before. I'm going the officer route instead of NCA but will try and apply it when I start training in May. Thanks.

Glad it was of ...

I am sure you will be fine. If you can, keep us upto date on your progress. I will be thinking of you running around in those woods behind the camp (I used to do it for fun!). LOL

Good luck and keep smiling (there is a reason for everything!)
