Royal Marines officer fitness standards are much higher than for the soldiers. Try a 30-miler in 7 hours for Officers, and in 8 hours for other ranks......

You didn't punctuate that rant correctly either. Pay more attention to detail.

It's an assumption that I hold the rank of Lieutenant based on a username, is it not?

It's also an assumption that FriendlyFire is not dyslexic. I thought in these politically correct times, that one was given the benefit of the doubt. Standards must be slipping: patronising the SPAG of GCSE ...

FF,

Don't worry about retards commenting on your spelling quite yet.

The Regular Commissions Board is the selection board for the year-long Commissioning Course at RMAS. Don't get the two confused. By all means apply for an Army Scholarship. Even better, and far more military is Welbeck, the Army ...

The sooner you get to grips with Planning Exercises, public speaking and Speed-Time-Distance equations, the better. All three can be practised for Regular Commissions Board (RCB), or for the Admiralty Interview Board (AIB).

Fitness is not something to worry about - it's your motivation for joining ...

BMI is only used against you if you are obviously too plump or too thin. It's commonly accepted that any successful rugby player/sprinter/oarsman has a disproportionately high BMI.

If you are solid muscle (and I mean Linford Christie solid), the Doc will ignore your BMI. I was at RMAS with a guy ...

PM me for a detailed brief if you need it. Ignore anyone who tells you how unfair it is for the others that you'd know more. Thee's a lot of relevance to the military maxim 'time spent in recconaissance is seldom wasted'.

The MOD tried to set up a pararescue unit in the 1990s from a bunch of Pathfinder Platoon NCOs. The demands for higher levels of pay called that plan off.

If you ever get to a Light Infantry (or any Army) battalion interview, for God's sake don't ask about counter-terrorist training or counter-revolutionary warfare. The Light Division can afford to be very selective when taking on potential officers. They receive a huge amount of prospective interest ...

Go for it! The Army Rumour Service website will be more useful than this website - www.arrse.co.uk

Register there and ask some questions on the Officers forum.

Top tip - get RCB Briefing done as soon as you can, then go on a VARIETY of regimental visits.
