Sprinting is a big part of RM training. From camp circuits to sprinting around the gym and on bottom field. In your position I would focus on sprint training and fartlek training. If I was to rejoin, my preparation would consist primarily of strength and sprint work.

If any of you ever get the chance, I would strongly recommend a visit to the Royal Marines museum in Portsmouth before your interview and PRMC. They have a wealth of knowledge and you will learn everything you need to know. Especially if you are solid like me and need pictures to help you remember.

In the time I was at Lympstone I was tested twice. If you get caught with any drugs in your system you will be discharged and at home within 24 hours. They will send your belongings to you. If you want to join the corps stop doing drugs and exercise instead. You don't want to make life any more diff...

aahh - camp circuits. It is an 800m best effort run around a section of the camp. They wouldn't be so bad if you weren't already hanging from the MSC circuits. They increase the number of camp circuits all the time and eventually you will do them carrying those heavy green mats. Aahh. Can't wait to ...

Initially you won't carry weight. Later on you will do rope climbs with fighting order (32lbs).

I totally disagree with you Will. If you have flu a week before you are due to go down your immune system will need a chance to recover before you get there. The training is so intense at CTC that you are likely to get ill at some point anyway - better not go in weak and be a liability from day 1. W...

I was scheduled to start Foundation on 21st Feb but have put it off until March 14th now - I have had the same flu and been in bed for a week. It is not worth going down to CTC feeling ill and weak. It would be totally counter productive. My advice to anyone with an illness just before starting trai...

Skiffle, thanks alot for taking the time to write such detailed information and help us out with our training. Could you give us a couple of circuits to try in preparation for PRMC and basic training.

Thanks again,
Ben

Hello Curious, and welcome to the forum. Your question is certainly one I pondered before taking the step and I am sure many more would admit to the same. It is a massive decision to make and you need assurance that should you change your mind half way through you can leave. So, to answer your quest...

you should go and see a sports physio as well. They will be able to show you a good massage that helps a hell of a lot.
