My old RSM spent time in Colchester, he always said that it did his drill the world of good! Also, since he ended up an RSM and had some pretty plum jobs so the whole "kickstart your career" thing must be true in at least some cases. Still probably not as good/enjoyable as going on proper ...

How can you really be in favour of this deployment from a military point of view? It leaves the South East Multi-National Div without a divisional reserve which makes absolutely no military sense - whatever happened to keeping one foot on the ground? So now if things kick of in the Basra region in t...

Vortex Do you actually have any education? I'm assuming that if you do it wasn't past high school (that is if you're out of it yet) and that it wasn't in academic subjects such as History and English where you may have been taught how to construct a reasoned, coherent and persuasive argument rather ...

Somalia, the Balkans, Vietnam ect... Surely quoting these as the UK "spending money on failed help efforts" is a bit dangerous, since Somalia and Vietnam were US muck ups and seeing as the Balkans is (in the end) a success story? I think that troops should be sent to Sudan now, while they...

minimac Guys from the unlucky regts will mostly not get sacked, just have to go into new regts. Looks to me as if the Cheshires, the Staffords and the Sherwood Foresters will go into a West Midlands Regt. of some kind, esp. since in the last round of cuts in 1994 they tryed to merge the Staffords an...

A yes and no answer! No, in that the planning chiefs at HQ LAND don't sit down and say "right lets send such and such cos they're cool". Yes, though, in terms of attatchments and arms plotting. If you are in a regiment in a deployable brigade, then if any big thing happens you will probabl...

I don't think that cadets can wear it, it's just some units are a law unto themselves. I heard about non-P Coy passouts wearing the red beret - disgraceful. Isn't there a unit that serves with the royals that also wear the green lids despite not taking all arms commando?

Those uniforms are absolutly disgusting, there's no two ways about it! Can you imagine seeing a KAPE exercise in your local town with soldiers dressed like that? I thought recruitment targets were supposed to be reached!

Very cutting USARMY_, but (unfortunatly) a good point.
