This man lives beside my granny and he used to break MOD vehicles and I remember he used to have ArmyLandrovers and other MOD vehicles - trailers and the like. His place was a real goldmine. I havent been there in years but I believe he is still at it. It is well worth giving him a call.

When your gob dries up take some Airwaves chewing gum. The chewing stimulates silvia and stops your thoat and mouth drying out... hate that cotton mouth goo you get at the corner of your mouth.

Doesn't really have any effect on performance just makes it a bit more pleasant.

Endurance

What is the recommended distance that you should run to build up your endurance levels? I'm running just over six miles (49 mins). Is that enough or do I need to be running farther?

Just keep an eye on your achillies tendon. If that snaps your are screwed right and proper.

I suffered a bit of pain from it when I started running but found that proper warm ups, warm down and streching put an end to any problems.

Start with shorter distances and slowly build up. Its far better in the long run (no pun intended).

I must agree with you, robj. Running too much for too long can really screw your joints up especially if you are carrying a bit of weight.

Even more so if you are running on the roads. Your ...

Dont do weights for the moment-just cardio work and running basically.

What I would suggest is a little bit of upper body work. Just some pressups and sit ups to begin with. Do as many as you can (eg 20) then half that figure (10) .

Do three sets (10 x 3) of that number every other day ...

Keep up the good work mate, sounds like you have the right approach. One thing I would suggest is ditch the treadmill and start pounding the tarmac. It is a whole different story. A much better and far less boring one.
