Hello ... to those who might remember me (and a general hello to everyone else) for those who don't know me, no I'm not in the military but do know lots of people who are or are retired, in various countries. I'm just a Canadian civi who found her way here one day ... and here I am again today ...

In Canada lately I heard a news clip about Poppies and people always losing them ... and that once there was even an attempt to change the Poppy and use a kind of glue to stick them ... fortunateley ;) there was a problem with glue sticking to peoples clothes and ruining them, so that design was ...

Please check out this URL, it goes further into the history of Navigation than I could. It also talks of hadley's octant. As for the small anchor mark...I'd hazard a guess that is the makers mark.
