Its basicly 4 sets of 10 on the machines but only using 20-30 kilo weights. If you do any more than 10 sets of 4 or more weight you will start to bulk.

To be honest mate if strength is your goal then you really need to re-assess your routine.

Strength training is all about developing power to ...

I have read into this subject somewhat and will tell you what I know.

From what I have read, research does suggest that Static stretches may not help in readying your muscles for repeated contractions. However [/b]Isometric[/b] stretching would be a much better idea.

Another intresting concept is ...

I'm really glad this thread came up as I can continue from what I said in the 'How to do weight training properly' thread.

Be VERY, VERY careful about your back. Squats and deadlifts are great exercises but they can ruin your spine if you don't do them right and/or if you don't use safety ...

Good luck with the rest of your program, it sound like you have made good gains in your fuctional strength.

It goes to show that weight training is beneficial to any cardiovascular program.

Many people on here seem to think that by doing weights for a couple of months they are going to ...

Synder,

That was a good post, summing up a great deal.

What needs to be said though is that keep all your weight training applicable to uses in the military (If that is your goal of course).

From my experience (Which is not a great deal, but I think I've done my research and given it a go ...

I'm going to add something here.

Worry about cardio now. Weight training is little more than a hobby to be dealt with after training is over.

I believe whatever your goal is be it army or Royal Marines, that 1-2 weight sessions a week is recommended to complement your running program.

You ...

Try this,

Get yourself a deck of cards, shuffle them, then place the cards down.
Pick up the card on the top of the pile, whatever the number is on the card; do that number of press-ups.

If you pick up a Jack, Queen, King, Ace; Do 11,12,13,14 reps respectively.

Pick up the next card and repeat ...

The history of any deadly disease is sad enough. The story of scurvy might be the saddest of all, because it's actual cure was suggested almost as soon as it appeared but was sidetracked for more than two centuries.

Hi Ben

I'm sorry to hear that you left. As someone who also opted at week 6 as well, I know what you must be feeling. However I'm sure you made the right choice,as it must have been very difficult having to be away from your missus and kid.

The very best of luck in whatever route you go down mate ...

Hi Tom

Glad to hear you are enjoying it. You will have exercise 'first step' next week, which is basically a camping trip with sentry duties; Easy really.

Are you the youngest in your troop?, any other 16 year olds?.

Best of luck.

There was a re-join in my troop, who was a good lad and helped everyone through the first few weeks.

I wouldn't think the training team woulg give you any real grief. However I ...
