Sorry for the delay in replying but I have been back to the UK for a few days.

The voting system in the UK is traditionally processed with the utmost integrity to ensure your vote is secret. However, the facility is in place to confirm who an individual has voted for. This facility is there to ...

When you enter the polling station you are given a polling card that has a number printed on it. This number is then written against your name on the list of registered voters.

After the ...

Looks like Clancy, Bert.

When you see him next , could you ask him if he is taking orders for Turkeys this year. :)

Also wish the old bastard a Merry Christmas.

Hi Mike

Jock and Piggy, two great lads, may they rest in peace. I often think of them and I am sure I have some photos somewhere. It was an unusually quiet messdeck when we returned on board.

It was December when Wilson and Smith embarked. We were in Casablanca and had to sail to ...

Forty years ago today.

I was a member of the Royal Marine Detachment on HMS Tiger which was in Cardiff at the time.

The Detachment was sent to assist. but there was little we could do, except help in the recovery of those poor little kids and their teachers.

Something I will never forget.

Very sad news indeed Mike. I had the privilege of serving with both Jock and Piggy with the RM Detacnment on HMS Tiger. They were both characters in their own right and bloody good run ashore oppos.

Please offer my sincere condolences. I will be having a wet or three tonight.

RIP

He also mentions about seven patrol boats based at Kuching, that are converted LCAs. He goes on to say that they were manned by eight man crews, some of which were RN and others RM, with all naval personnel wearing jungle greens and blue berets. Did anyone here serve on one these, or even get to ...

Smashing pics Bert. Sailing ship's and their history was a lifelong passion of my old dad.

I will see if I can dig out his old photos of many square riggers.

Sonne

I very seldom venture from the Retreat or Bunker and your post reminds me why .

As a former serving Royal Marine, I too served with pride in many conflicts around the world and most of the places I served in I can't Farkin spell either.

If people I respect, like Tab, Got 1 or Ronnie etc ...

On safe ground here Frank. Al is short for Alice ,as in slack. It's her brother Julio Doubleglazias that worries me.
