Hazzalenco,

I had some contact with HCR almost 3 years ago. I came over and visited Combermere Barracks 12 Sept. 2001. I was fortunate enough to have had lunch at Hyde Park Barracks the following day with Silver Stick in-waiting and the Regimental Adjutant. Unfortunately, my Crohn's disease made ...

Use of foreign weapons on Special Forces operations?

While I was reading Nigel Foster's "The Making of a Royal Marines Commando" (in particular the recount of an SBS operation to destroy a communications cable relay in Iraq), I began to wonder if Special Forces soldiers use "foreign" weapons during operations. Would they use AK-47's, atc., non-Nato ...

Joshualoftus,

I'm applying from Canada, and I have dual nationality as well. I was talking to Jesse (who just started at Lympstone this past Saturday), one of the members on the forum, and he said yes, you do need to provide documentation confirming you are free from military obligations in your ...

Sticky Blue,

Just started reading "The Royal Marines: From Sea Soldiers to a Special Force", and came across the mutiny. That noise you hear is my Grandad's theory crashing and burning!

I think my Grandad may have told me that the navy doesn't have to swear an oath? Apparently something to do with their never having rebelled against the crown as some did with Cromwell??

My grandfather served on a frigate in WWII and prior to that was a bugler with the Marines at 14, I think it was ...

Gentlemen,

Are you aware if there are any restrictions on Commonwealth citizens possessing dual nationality? I have both British and Canadian (though I have never lived in Britain). If it helps, I have a British passport, does that mean anything?

Just thought I'd see if I can get a reply over the ...

Ah, but the North Koreans have already struck...(has anyone ever had 'kim chi'?) Beware that highly secret, but nonetheless effective NWMD (Nutrional Weapon of Mass Destruction), it burns the tongues right out of the mouths of those who ingest it, thereby reducing communication ability to nil! Aiee!

I've read the information available on websites. I was just curious if anyone had first-hand knowledge, which is really quite silly I guess because even if they did there's no way they should tell me about it!
