I think you are all partially right. According to the letter I got from the welfare officer at Arbroath some weeks ago, some of 45 are there (my lad being one of them), some fire fighting, some in NI. They have not been deployed this time as a single unit but have been split up to support other ...

I was moved beyond words by Derek's poetry. You have captured the two sides of this so accurately - Incredible pride in our sons, tempered by dread during this anxious time. My comfort is that his training was second to none, he knows what he is doing, he can rely 150% on his mates, as they can on ...

My old Mother (aged 79) has some advice - Keep your head down and your chin up. Not easy I would imagine, but the sentiments right.

We have a mini-support group at work - ie three of us work very closely together, me with a son out there, one with a boyfriend there and another with a son at Lympstone in training! We help one another, and the information I have gleaned from this site has been tremendous. For example someone else ...

Hi to fellow parents and families

This is a very anxious time for us all. This is a message of support to all my fellow bootneck parents and families. Lets hope this is all over soon and we can have our sons/husbands/brothers/fathers back with us safe and sound. My son has been gone for a few weeks now with very little contact back ...

I have visited the families discussion area, and will no doubt be a regular visitor there. This, however, will continue to be my first port of call, not only because it is interesting to hear what you guys have to say on so many different topics, but also as I said earlier - it gives me an insight ...

Well, thank you Ratso and John. I am pleased to have another link with the RM 'family'. Reading the miscellaneous discussions have kept me from feeling too bereft of my boy since he joined. I did not feel any particular need for a separate area, especially as we were kindly invited to contribute if ...
