I knew Bill when he was at Eastney Barracks in "R" Company - had some great runs ashore with him and the rest of the lads. Kept up with him in Guildford and met up again when I moved back to Portsmouth in the 80's - he was a great guy and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

As someone who rarely posts messages but always checks in to see what is going on I thought that I would also put my two cents worth of comments in.

1. Isn't this sight called "Once a Marine Always a Marine"??

2. Before all the wannabee's criticize the older members, maybe they should remember ...

I was twenty eight when I got the "knock on the door" and after having been with the marines for a total of 11 years, four years in the WRNS and 7 as a wife - I was totally disillusioned by the "looking after the family" side of the service - made all the worse because previously I had been a true ...

I have just heard on the American News that a helicopter with British Troops has been lost in the Gulf. My sincere condolences to the families and friends of all lost. My prayers are with them at this time.

Rob is right, it was Ken Blaine, when he was a GD CPL at DPROM, we called him the Gronk! Also remember him from 41 Cdo, he used to drive a green Volkswagon beetle, that he had cut the top off. Always new when he was coming, you could smell the afgas (??) a mile away. Is he still alive and kicking ...
