Making Waves

Post by Richy_Boy »

I know this has nothing to do with topics about the navy but what happened to the tv series Making Waves. It was on channel 3 on a Wednesday at 9pm then one week it just stopped.

Does anyone know please because i enjoyed it.

Withdrawal Of ‘Making Waves’ From ITV Schedule

After the screening of three of the planned six weekly episodes of the RN based drama “Making Waves”, regrettably it failed to meet the audience viewing figures expected by the ITV network scheduling authority. Consequently, ITV has decided to withdraw the series forthwith. The fourth, planned to be shown on Wednesday 28 July, and subsequent episodes will not be broadcast as previously advertised. ITV currently has no plans to screen the remaining three episodes in the near future.

In a statement ITV said, “It is always difficult to predict audience reaction and sadly Making Waves failed to deliver the magic ingredient that captures the viewing public’s imagination. The opening episodes did not attract a large enough audience in what has become a very competitive time slot. These decisions are not taken lightly but reflect the needs off a commercial channel to protect the overall performance of its peak time schedule.”

Cost

Post by Seaspryte »

I only saw one episode and when you think of the cost involved in making these sort of tv shows, it does seem an awful waste of time and money.
Clearly a lot of people did enjoy watching this series even if it didn't reach the desired viewing figures. Why doesn't the tv company just put it in a different slot, say in the afternoon or better still replace these sickening 'Tricia' type awful puplic slanging matches voyerism shows with it.
Big Brother aaaarggh......another one I can't stand. Okay for one series, sheer torture after that. :)

Reality TV?....jeeps if that is REALITY I am starting to feel my age!
Erm...30+.....make that a BIG plus

Flo, I believe it's the same producer for Making Waves as it was for Soldier Soldier....

Obvioulsy something was missing for Making Waves as SS was a big hit

Super Soldiers

Post by Seaspryte »

:P Hmmm  Robson & Jerome...now where have these two lads gone?

Should I admit this on here? I actually liked their music and I bought all their records  I don't usually go for blonde blokes, but Jerome Flyn was and (still is I'm sure) a real HUNK! :P

I enjoyed all the documentary progs made about Ark Royal and Sailor too, I think this was the last RN documentary show aired. Enjoy also any doc made about the 'elite' boys our Royal Marines.
Yes Making Waves did lack a certain something. I dunno, maybe it's the current crop of modern day actors just not up to scratch, no presence about them or just a crap script!

Fiction shows like Soldier Soldier are good fun....but give me the real thing anyday!!
