Airshows

Post by Hyperlithe »

Is anyone going to any of the RAF base air days? I'd really like to go to Waddington this year as it's hopefully where I'll end up, but I don't really want to go alone. (I know, girlie wuss...!)

I can get rooms at the Grantham Marriott for £55 BB for 2 people, but there's a limit on how many i can have.
Let me know!

Great idea to get nice and close to avoid those queues! I'm told that Mildenhall is always a good day... loads of yank planes and a few Fockers if you are lucky
Drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed...

The best airshow can be found here, but on occasions the traffic can be horrendous

I was thinking of going to Fairford, but it's not ideal.
a) I'd need accommodation as my parents are away that weekend, and the hotel chain I work for has no vacancies in the area that weekend.
b) there's noone from 51Sq. going to be there, only a Nimrod MR2A.
On the other hand...
My brother may be there with the band but he's not sure yet, if he is it would be a good opportunity to see him (possibly!)

I think our squadron are providing medic cover for fairford, so i might see you if you break a nail or get split ends.

I think he does haircare as well by the sounds of it hyper. If you fancy your streaks touching up at the same time he might be able to do it whilst he does your nails.
Split ends... that phrase always makes my eyes water :o

I'm going to Waddington, been before a couple of times, actually a great day, all sorts there, old tanks & vehicles, RAF Reg. display last time, all sorts of planes, lots of tales from iraq to if you talk to pilots, they're very friendly, especially Yanks, i spoke to A-10 pilots, B-52 Nuke weapons operator, all sorts. loopy Russians powering down engines and diving then pulling up at last second etc. a really good day!
