Arrogant, ignorant and not Royal.

Post by flo »

Today my faith in a human nation finally hit sh*t creek, all day i spent on my own trying to build up Kieras swing, its large with a gondola boat on it, which she got for her birthday. Whilst the majority of 21 Reg are away on Med man there are still plenty of males about the patch. At least 8 male neighbours all army, walked past while i was struggling to anchor the ground stakes in and not one of them offered to help despite seeing me close to tears with bleeding fingers. If this had happened back in Britain on a Royal Marine Patch I would have been inudated with offers of help. so much so that i wouldnt have gotten my hands dirty. So still her swing is out of bounds and the mallet has been chucked at the nearest brick wall in temper. :banghead: What annoyed me more than anything was my next door neighbour who actually said when i asked if he was busy that he had loads of paperwork to do before his reg flew on Wednesday. I empathised and apologised for asking for his help. I then decided to take Kiera out for a walk to help her run of some steam and me to calm down. on walking past said gentlemens garden there he was praying to the sun god and no paperwork in sight. So it was stiff upper lip good afternoon said i and carried on walking past the lazy b****ard. :fist:
I wouldnt mind so much but Jed went round all the neighbours and cut the lawns for those without hubbies and his was one that was done. Now where did i put that weedkiller....

Right i've had my drip session wheres that bottle of Korn. :drinking:

Easy to say but I'd have helped - honest. The guy was an idle twat, the fact that he is in the Army is secondary, he'd have been a idle civvy twat too.

By the way, you can buy Apfelkorn in the UK too, there's a place in Nottingham that sells it. Good stuff too!

I take it you have files upon files of research to come to the conclusion that every 100.000+ member of the Army is arrogant and ignorant.
Or are you using just one example to judge everyone. If that's the case then the Navy is full of poofs, and the Police is full of racist's. Maybe you also believe all Muslims are terrorist's, all England football fans are thugs, all scousers are thieves and maybe you even believed that the QLR did abuse Iraqi's.
Or maybe you have been listening to your husbands and his mates anti Pongo comments for too long.
You shouldn't finger point and slag off the whole British Army like that, your a civi and your husband is in the Royal Marines. So you haven't a clue about the Army. One of my mates use to be in the Marines, and he wouldn't of helped you believe me. And I saw the way he and his Marine mates ruined his dads wedding. And before people start thinking it was just a bunch off Royal Marines being Royal Marines it wasn't. It was out of order and his dad as never forgiven him. But am I going to judge all Marines by that NO.
Like Pongologs as said, this bloke was just idle full stop. And would I of helped you, that depends. If I thought you were a decent person yes. But if I thought you were an arrogant and ignorant person who looked down there noses at people in the Army because your husband is in the Royal Marines. And you believe in the myth that all Pongos are sh~t, then there's no way I would of helped you.

Easy mate - i dont think she was commenting on the fact about a pongo/bootie thing here. Point was a woman was having a hard time putting up a large fooking swing thing, surrounded by blokes, which are meant to be our nations protectors, yet not one of them could be arsed to give a helping hand.

I was raised to help a woman in need, no matter what. Its about being friendly (i assume she lives in married quaters) and being there for each other, which apparently, wasnt what happened there.

It was more Cloidna coment:
Thats Perce all over I'm afraid babe.
that got to me.
I live in Army married quarters and I don't agree her assumption that all Army personnel are like that is right.

Cav, I'd say that 8 out of 8 is 100%... a woman close to tears, hands bleeding, in obvious distress and they ALL walked past! There is a rule that we live by, when an oppo is away you all look after each other. The guy 2 doors is away at sea and his wife knows that she can knock on the door any time of the day or night for anything. I wouldn't make some excuse and then go sit in the sun. One day that blokes wife might want some help and, although he should, I know Flo's husband would drop whatever he was doing and go and help.

If you had been here Flo, I know that someone would have come over, given you a beer and sat you down whilst they did the work.

I think that you should wind your neck in Cav-Lad. Flo was merely having a drip sesh, same as we all do on occasion. For your information Cliodna is an ex pongoess, so she has a right to her opinion. Flo is an ex mawren, she likewise is entitled to her opinion.

Just ease up mate.

Aye - Andy.

With regards to Cav lads comments about me being anti Army then you have got it all wrong. Firstly we were offered this post, and could have declined if we were anti - army (which we are not) secondly i was having a pop at the lazy useless idle B**tard who ignorantly did not offer to help despite the fact that my husband whom Yes is a Royal Marine has helped his wife on countless occasions. Now if you want to pick bones perhaps that is because You have a thing about marine versus army. I re-emphasise I do not, nor does my husband and for you to assume that my husband gets involved in anti-army banter then you are so mistaken. But answer me this, when we arrived blind from the Uk only 4 months ago why were we deliberately given the wrong direction to the married patch by a corporal in the Army, A- was it because he was new to the area andwas not sure himself or B- lets see of the new bootie. Well friend it was B because he admitted it to the Sgt Major on the guard and thought it was a laugh. Now who do you think had the problem then...... Us for being completely lost with three children in the car because directions were deliberatly wrong or Mr Army Barmy. Or do you too find it funny that Royal got seen off. Now i am not anti army and yes i am now a civvie but i did serve in the navy and no i am not racist, no i dont think all sailors are gays and no you dont know me at all. My comments were about the complete lack of respect for a women struggling on her own with no husband around I merely pointed out the differences that i have experienced on both side of the fence Yes Royal would help but at this end, Army end nobody gives a damn.
And as for your comments on whether i am a descent person im not even going to give you a comment on that because I have plenty of friends (both Army and Marine) who would testify that I am.

So lets get this straight. Someone can announce on this website that all members of the British Army are arrogant and ignorant, as Cliodna did. And no member of the Army can defend the Army.
And just because it's somebody's wife it should make no differance. I'm sure Flo and Cliodna are capable of defending themselfs.

Sweetheart I am NOT JUST SOMEBODY'S WIFE I am a person in my own right, just because i have children with my husband and I stay at home to look after them does NOT take away my IDENTITY. And yes I can defend myself but I cant put up a bloody swing.

Flo if I got the wrong end of the stick then I apologise. Thats the problem talking over a website like this, it's hard to get a proper understanding what people mean sometimes.
But I did get the impression you were trying to make out all members of the Army are idle arrogant tw~ts, which unless you've met every single one no one can say. And I wasn't calling you a racist, I was trying to point out whats wrong in stereotyping people. And I think it was the police I used as an example not you. Again that's the problem with these websites.
But like I said before it was Cliodna comment:
Thats Perce all over I'm afraid babe.
that wind me up because she did assume we were all like that.
I'm in the Army, I'm proud of the Army. I work with the best bunch of lads anyone could work with. The commradship between the lads is second to none. I'm also married and live in married quarters, and the spirit between the residents is also second to none. Now maybe that is not the case every where, and you may of come across an example of this. But never judge everyone by a few examples. Because you could do that about anything.
If I have offended you then I'm sorry. But if you look at my past post's then you will see that I always go on the offensive when somebody slags of what I am.

Apology gratiously accepted.
You are lucky that you live on a patch where people do help out, and i am talking from experience. When we arrived here if you were part of 21 reg then you only spoke to 21 Reg, the same went for the Duke of Boots wifes, they would not talk to you if you were not part of their regiment. As I am the only Royal Marine wife out here it has been very hard as no- one except my german next door neighbour makes the effort, despite my husband and myself throwing the all important getting to know you barbeque. Even the families officer is not interested if i ask any questions his reply is, 'well girl your with the army now' . I have made the effort to the 'Wives club' which resulted in questions not greetings. Felt welcome .......No , I have lived on Naval estates and the welcome was phenominal, like Loz said biccies and tea even a meal for the kids while we unpacked. This is my eighth married patch and i hav e been sad to leave every one of them, but if they said to jed tomorrow would you like a draft back to the Uk I would divorce him if he said no. So in the meantime I am drinking myself stupid with Cheap Naffi Korn and duty free vodka until this three year stint is up and then i can move back to taunton with a cider nose to match.
Im not saying your a bad lad (even if you army...JOKE) but we are all entitled to a drip session and trust me the moment deserved one.
