Tactical torches
During recruit training our Corporal had this 'Gucci' torch that had an ultra dim light setting for map reading without compromising your position. Does anyone know of this torch and where I can get one from.
Yes - I do know that a maglight with the lense covered in black tape with a pin prick does the same job.

Even if that isn't it, there's plenty of other cool gadgets there.

he should have been carrying a foot pump then.......Tab wrote:It could be that the battery was nearly flat and he did not have a spare
which reminds me, many moons ago, one sunday morning, my sister rang and said she`d got a flat battery, so i said go and buy a foot pump and ring me back, about an hour and a half later, she rang back and said i`ve got a foot pump.......what do i do now?
This is the same sister, who when on an interview for promotion, she was asked if she could use a dictaphone...........yes she said, but i`d sooner use my finger.....
The Inova 24/7 light is the business. It's just come onto the market in the UK. 8 functions including dim/high white light, low red light, strobe, SOS strobe and personal locator. Runs off a lithium battery, so no resupply through the military system for those serving personnel!
Check out the link below for specs:

If you want one, don't pay around £50.00, I know where you can get them for £25, PM me for details.

Do any of you remember the torches that they issued to the troops in the Western Desert during WW2. There were no batteries, the torches were oval in shape and fitted into the palm of your hand. There was lever which stuck out from the of the torch and fitted under your thumb and when you squeezed this lever it spun and inertia motor wich generated enough electricity to light the bulb in the torch, simple, handy, and great little device.

Torch and Tactical in the same sentence? The PWIs would go ape
A pusser's right angle torch with a red lens and a masking tape cover with a very small hole has done me fine. I've also used a mini maglight with similar accoutrement's that I kept in my jacket pocket. Tab's desert torch sounds good, no batteries!
