I know when the rucuss went off down south, some members of the VM`s, brought back 2 Mercedes "G" wagons, Land Rover type vehicles. they used to be left at Bjerkvik in Norway, and used by the Oversnow Troop when reviving and putting some of the BV`s to bed after the deployment.

They were re-plated to RM1 and RM2

Bootneck,

I remember the Merc 4x4's at Bjerkvik.

The unit 2i/c commandeered one and was always threaders when we couldn't fix it for either lack of parts or lack of interest. He only used it for posing in anyway.

Not so much a proff as a capture.

Rough Diamond 80.

Tom McMahons section went on a morning clearance patrol from C Coy and came across two Scimitars belonging to the Perce enemy. While they were pushing out the Zeds the lads quietly captured the lot and had them drive them back to the position.

Small sense of humour failure from their boss but the umpires wiped them out for the next few days.

We had to give them back later tho'

I know im not in the military but I once borrowed 1000 black bin bags from work and 1000 takes up a lot more room than you would think. Full boot and stacked to shoulder height on the back seat, mind you it was a mini.

I wasn`t allowed on the workshops shop floor in my last 18 months, in case of injury! shyte, i was injured anyway, so i was put into the RTCO`s office. needless to say al the gash hands and cpls got the mini buses for weekend R&R. Yes, if its the same, Little man i`m thinking of, he wasn`t too bad with me, (obviously thought he`d get nowhere, obviously right) and just let me get on with running things :D cracking last 18 months, especially with Hookie.

I still have some ration packs in the garage (dad left the army 6 years ago :D) and ive used them regularly ever since, thou the fruti biscuits are all gone :( . Countless amounts of fuel taken in jerry cans over a 4 year period while this person lived 400 metres from the camps petrol pumps. Nothing too exciting :-?

I once 'borrowed' 5 gallons of pva glue from my school art cuboard. I don't know why it seemed a good idea at the time, you never know when it could come in handy. It's propping open my bedroom door as we speak.................................
