Major Angus (Gus) Pearson, former RSM died yesterday of the result of a
heart attack.
A real gentleman,I'm certain he will be missed by all who new him.
My thoughts go out to his family at this time.
If I get more details funeral etc, I'll post them on this site.

Sorry to here about the sad loss of Gus.
A wry sense of humour and a true Gent.
Also a good shot,
Didn't he do a lot for the RMRA.

Subject: Major Angus Pearson - RSM 40 Cdo RM

Angus wife Eleanor has just phoned me to say the Funeral will take place at St Margaret's Church Bilsthorpe Nr Newark, Nottingham at 1:45 on Tuesday 21th. As you know he was RSM of 40 Cdo RM during the Falklands Campaign. They don't want flowers - donations to the Royal Marine Benevolent Fund should be sent to the Undertakers Barry Gibson, Church Hill, Bilsthorpe, Nr Newark Nottingham. Eleanor has given permission for this to be put on your site.
Gus and I were very old friends and I attended their wedding in Bangor Northern Ireland. I introduced Eleanor to Gus when she was a WREN
I was shocked to hear the news. I know a lot of peoples lives have been enriched by knowing GUS he will be sadly missed.
Best wishes
John

Angus recently appointed Vice President of the Nottingham Branch of the RMA. He was Officer Commanding, Marine Cadets, Eastern Area. It seems that people from all over the UK will be attending his funeral service at Bilsthorpe. It's a great pity that a Bugler cannot be made available to sound the Last Post at the Service.

The RMA will be there in force.

Angus Pearson Funeral

Post by Fred Thompson »

Angus Pearson's funeral carried out quite beautifully. The Church was packed solid, the Service was excellent, the Tribute was excellent and the Bugler was excellent. Lots of old friends and colleagues attended and I am sure that Angus's wife, Eleanor was very proud. Gus himself would have loved it. Bye mate!

Does anyone out there have a photo of Gus Pearson, good enough for reproduction in the Globe & Laurel. What photos that we do have are not suitable and my Chairman of Nottingham RMA has tried far and wide to try to obtain one that can be used in the Obits in the G & L.

If anyone has one, please forward it to Freddy Bryson-Bassett at the G & L.

Cheers

It was with great sadness that I read of the loss of Gus Pearson. I have fond memories of Gus, as a junior marine in 7 Squad (1960), as a DL2 candidate giving a lecture on a long nosed aircraft called Concorde, as a good instructor at the Depot and as a field NCO in Aden when he got shot up the rear by the a-rabs or was it the SAS? He achieved everything expected of him.
