Post by Army_Chic »

Hey all I'm 22 year old girl I've always wanted to join the army and as i hav jst come back 6 months ago from Spain it was the first thing i did and wanted to do. I've jst been to my first British army interview on Thursday was very nervous but felf like it wen very well, my first option in career selection was Royal Artillery King's Troops cos i have alot of animal experience and i love working with horses its what i have done since i was 14 years old. My recruiter told me it was a very difficult area to get in because it was very popular which i already knew it was, but on Friday i got a phone call and an opportunity to go and do a Regimental Insight Course with the King's Troops which i am very excited about. I was jst woundering if anyone has been or experienced a Regimental Insight Couse with the Kings Troops and what it was like so i Know a little bit of what to expect thanx so much carnt wait to hear from anyone with any experiences and also any information you have about girls joining the army and going through basic training any and all information is welcome would lije to know all i can thanx to all and catnt wait to hear

Hi there well first of all congratulations on wanting to join the army and good luck for the future.
I cannot help you with your first option but I do no it is a male dominated unit so the opportunities to get on may be limited.

There are a couple of units in the army that use animals 1. The Bomb Squad, sounds dodgy but all jobs in the army are dodgy, but you can get better qualifications this way and for the future. 2. The Veterinary corps is another good one to go for and again get qualified for when you leave the army.

Yes you can wash down horses and clean up horse crap all day but is that really going to help you secure a good job when you leave, no I don t think so.

Look towards the future love working with sniffer dogs great opportunities for the future and of course being a vet will always be in demand.

But it is up to you what ever way you go have a great time and stay safe.
