How long start to finish?

Post by Jordan_1 »

Hi guys. New member here. Thought I'd start off with a question.

First of all I am dead set on becoming a member of the British Army. I want to know how long it will take from the day I sign up until the day I start? Let's just say for convenience sake that I would pass all the tests and interviews etc first time. I am only really looking for a guideline.

Many thanks in advance
Jordan.

It can take quite a time at the moment depending on just what you want to join, this is due to the cut backs that are going on and people get shuffled around.

Thanks for the reply Tab. I think it's the engineers route I want to go. Is there any way you could put even a rough timescale on it?

The only guys who could tell you about timings would be the AFCO. Suggest you give them a call, I remember someone else mentioning the RE and it depends on which trade you chose.

Hey Jordan, let me first say congrats on wanting to purse a carrer in the armed forces, im currently in the process of joining the Infantry in the Duke of Lancs. Obviously your chosen job and regiment will change the length of time due to intakes and such.
Ofcourse i can only speak from my own experiance, i first visited the AFCO in late January of this year since then i have completed all aspects of the application process but the actual ADSC, which im attending next week in litchfield, ive been told there is an intake for my chosen job and regiment in August which has one more slot, so if i pass with a C next week i should start basic training in August.. I had 2 months of a dry spell throughout my application from personal issues and waiting for my medical forms to come back off the doctor, plus i did the pre-selection twice. So personally its took me 6 months to reach where i am now, given two more months i should start basic training. As i said this is from my experiance, hope this helps abit.
