training benchmark

Post by mthurlow »

Asking anybody who's currently training to join the armed forces to comapre running times and other training programes......
Iam currently running 5miles in a best time of 35mins 23secs.......3miles = (including a long steep bank) 22mins. I also do boxing once a week and football at weekends, weighted walks with my dog, little bit weight training.

Iam wondering how others are getting ready for basic and also could do with trying new programes to mix it up abit

Thanks for any replies

Those running times sound good, 7 minute miles are a good benchmark, can you get them down to 6...? 8)
What part of the army are you hoping to join?

iam joining the RLC as a Ammunation Tech on the 4th july (couple of weeks cant wait)

Think i could get down to 6mins but i have started running with a backpack on with nothing heavy (just a couple of coats and other clothing) and my times went up by 2-3mins

Good stuff, keep up the running and don't overdo the weight, best of luck!
