I joined the infantry when I was 17 but unlike many that age I was still a child. I did not belong in the army at that time and I couldnt handle it so I went awol about 2 months after passing out at catterick. I handed my self in a year and a half later. I was obviously court marshalled and kicked out, but I was allowed the option of returning.
I will be 29 this year and have always felt alot of guilt and dishonour for not having stuck through it. I am very interested in joining the bomb disposal experts and I understand I must start off in another job such as plumbing or ordinance.
I am just fearful that I may be unwelcome. Or that my application would be placed at the bottom of the pile in favour of younger, more trustworthy recruits.
If anyone has an experience of re-joining, or if anyone has any opinions on what I did and what I should do, I would like to hear from you.

Remember that with all the unemployment about that they can pick and chose just who they want, so don't get your hopes up to high
