Is 27/28 too old to join?

Hi all! I would like to join the RMP, I am currently 26 and no where near Army fit yet, I also need to retake some GCSEs so Im guessing by the time everything is sorted I will be 27/28.

What is the average age of recruits? Will my age be held against me? Will I get called Grandad? (ive been called worse!)
