Raf Regiment

Post by sparky99 »

At the moment im currently in air cadets, i intend to join the regiment. The other week I was staying at RAF Benson where i saw 2 gunners with the maroon para beret but with the raf badge. Are these just normal gunners or what?

I don't think the Benson's, sorry, soldiers at RAF Benson  , would have just done All Arms P Coy because from that don't soldiers just get the para wings, and not the beret? So I think that the soldiers were maybe paras and have transfered to the RAF regiment. But then that is a wild guess and is based on no facts.

Post by stever »

doing Force Protection tasks the Regt also has representatuives on 16 Air Assault Brigade! Since last year (2002) the Regt has manned 613, 615 & 616 TACP's (Tactical Air Control Party) based at Colchester and have played a major part on OP Telic. Each TACP consists of 1 x Officer, 1 x SNCO & 2 x Gunners!

might be tacp chaps attached to 16 aab

im sure they wouldnt have minded if you asked em nicely where the got there hats from

not sure if raf regiment wear marroon berets
2 sqn certainly dont

Why didn't you have a go at Rabby then??

Troll? at least you managed not to swear? Could of thought of something witty though?

Unfortunately this poor chap's under the impression that joining the RAF Regiment's a good idea. Pepole like stever prove why it isn't and rather than responding to a light hearted jibe with an equally amusing and light hearted reply you get a torrent of abuse.

Well I wasn't going to do some RAF Regiment bashing (The Regiment??? no there's only one Regiment) but this idiot's wound me up.

Sparky, if you want to do some proper soldiering then do it with the people who do it best and not just sat on the edge of an airfield with some psuedo military organisation full of arrogant, condescending idiots like this one. Just like all the other condesending, arrogant people I had the misfortune to spend 6 months with at Cranwell. Go and see a decent Infantry Battalion and trust me, you'll never look back. Or, if you a re fit enough, join the Paras and wear a maroon lid all the time and really do it properly.

Whatever you....do best of luck

this young chap must be really impressed with the troll posting

i didnt have a go at the other chap as he wasnt trying to be wind up merchant.

i agree swearing wasnt big or clever
it made sense at the time

it sounds to me mate some instructor at cranwell shouted at you

loudly....

i repeat again i provided info re 16aab

i didnt expect the anti raf regiment jibes to start in this forum

lite hearted banter

move on troll

and the join a decent army batt "yawn" thats original

do some proper soldiering "yawn" another nugget of wisdom

why are you lurking in this site anyway ????????

if you want to put off the young chap joining carry on

you will look ever more stupid than you do at the moment
