--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my husband recently got his first orders. he is in his technical training at lackland and our first base is minot ND. everyone that has got minot is getting deployed for the past while and i was wondering if anyone knows if these orders are final. also i was wondering if the he couild talk to anyone to get them to change. we were only married a month when he went to BMT and he barley even knows his 6month old son. if he gets deployed for 6months or longer i don't know what to do. i mean of course ill stand my him but it will be really hard having hm gone. i knew it would happen and i know he wants to fight ofor our country. we just were surprised it was happening so soon. thanks.

Abbey,
I can't really comment as you are US Air Force. I say you because you are as much a part of the forces as your hubby is. It is the women that make us strong. Knowing he has your support will become his tower of strength when he is away from home... it is such a comfort having a supportive wife and family. Will you be going to Minot with him? if you do he will take comfort in knowing that you will be there when he returns and that you have a support network with the other wives at the base. Keep smiling, things could be worse...

I'd just plan on him being deployed. If he is you are mentally prepared, if he doesn't deploy then bonus for both of you. Either way he will deploy atleast once during his enlistment. In the 80's and very early 90's I met people in the service that never left the USA, now you'd be hard pressed to find a service man who hasn't deployed atleast twice in a career or once during his last 6 years. Deployment is the future of our military. You can find support at Family Readiness centers on your base that actually help. They let you know what to expect and how to deal with things when he is gone, how to emergency contact, e-mail, web cam access, activities and just lots of other stuff. If you are in Colorado I know Peterson AFB and Ft.Carson have these programs for sure. Check into it, believe it or not these organazations help. I'd just plan for him to deploy if I were you.
