My best mate has been out for three years or so but recently agreed to go out to afghan for another tour.
Thing is his civvy career is starting to take off and he's got a place at uni so derailing his life for another year isn't really an option.
They're threatening to kick up a big stink and push for desertion and prison etc
Anyone know the options in a situation like this? Legally what can he do?

Going AWOL?
You probably won't really get any concrete advice on here, just speculation and opinions...especially about something like going AWOL.
If you want legal advice you should speak to a military lawyer.
I have no idea of your personal circumstances so I will not speculate or form an opinion, and shall just say I hope you make the right decision and that it works well for you and your future.

Hi, he started off in the TA but transferred to the normal army for his 4yrs.Tab wrote:You forget to say if he is a Regular Soldier or TA
Apparently this isn't quite the normal way of joining so his paperwork is TA but his service was Regular.
He still does the odd bit of work, driving people around, training TA kids, moving guns etc, so it's not as if he severed all ties when he left. He still does the TA training once a year so i'm guess he's still in the TA in some measure?
I'm sure that was clear as mud!
No disrespect but when I left and the Army said I was on my own I felt the same to them. Unless they are going to guarantee my job with my company then they can poke it.
