That's not bad, aim for 7 minute mile pace, try and gradually creep that time down.

Get off the treadmill and get on the roads, tracks etc MASSIVE difference

As Sandy said, there is a major difference to the treadmill and running on a real surface. Try running a 5 miler on the treadmill then a 5 miler on the road, you will notice how much harder the road is. I was running on a treadmill for 40 min at 11kph 2 years ago, no way could I achieve that on a real surface, especially with my knees :o

Treadmills are so boring as well  ....back on the real surface now :D

Yeah iv just started running again mate i am alot slower on the road than on the treadmill i did a 3 miler on treadmill the first day i started to get back into running and i was very impressed (over the moon in fact lol) and i cuda done more since my treadmill only does 8.8 but then i did a 3miler on the road and and it wasn't as good :( But in the paras you won't be on a treadmill will you mate, get on the road, it is always best to prepare for the worst :)

get your road slappers on and aim for 7 minute miles or better, outside over slightly hilly terrain. Do that very often and your onto a winner.

Remember rest days are just as important as running etc.. You’re probably best cutting your running down to every 'other' day or you could end up injuring yourself, and you won’t be able to run for weeks if you do that! I myself got shin splints when I started running everyday and learned the hard way about not overtraining.

You'll also see improvements quicker when you have rest days. Running 5 miles a day, everyday won’t be doing you any favors mate.
