Will :)

Oh right that's a shame :( when did you audition out of interest and which instrument do you play?

How was the theory and scales etc (unless you did percussion) lol

Sorry for the questions but I audition between Jan-March next year so I'm trying to get an idea you see.

William are you working as a musician in civvy street or are you a schooled musician looking for work, if I can put it that bluntly?

Because how you put that across to the interviewer can be quite important
i.e. "I've worked as a musician for xx years and I now want to further develop myself" rather than "Well I can't get a job in civvy street, haven't hado ne isnce graduating so I thought I'd try the forces"

Hi London Boy,

Sorry for the late reply!

I am 18 years old, and still in my second year at College studying A2 Music as one of my options...

I live opposite Kneller Hall, and know the staff there, been on Courses there and with various Regiment Bands etc...

I audition next week (24th/25th Nov). Been looking at the Corps of Army Music as a career for about 3-4 years now.

William.

(anyone else applying for Army Musician???)

You know I am already.

I am on the process of filling in my application form. Just waiting to finalise the transfer of my GP to the local one so I can put their name on my form.

I'm hoping to do my audition sometime Feb/Mar but I don't know what pieces to play. Do they have to be unaccompanied pieces?

Rikkles have you just moved house then? I did and the changing of the docs has made my medical drag on for ages. AFCo was communicating with my old docs, then rather than my old docs saying to AFCO to use my new one they sent all forms to the NHS handling center and then on to my new docs so forms are taking AGES!
application form : done
BARB test : passed 82
Medical : Broke my wrist so 12 months wait before reapply.

rikkles22

you have to perform 2 contrasting pieces of music with no pianist as it says on my audition forms.
I'll obviously let you know evrything I got through on Tuesday/Wednesday when I get back!

Oh bugger! I did think they would try and chase up my meds from my old gp but seeing as I haven't really had anything medical in the last 7 years, I'd be slightly annoyed if it get's delayed only to find out I'm clear.

Another bugger. When you said no pianist, can you still play an accompanied piece just without the piano? It's a pain trying to get hold of playable oboe pieces without accompaniment. :( Guess, I'ma just pick ones from the ABRSM List C pieces.

Hi
I am a 25 year old female.
I really want to join the corps of army music. I'm a South African but I have a visa to work in the UK. I play the clarinet and have played in semi-professional orchestras for years. I am just worried about the standard they are expecting. I read 50% of the audition is sight reading, which I think I am quite good at. But again they could want a very high standard of sight reading. Does anyone know where I can find a guideline as to the standard of the pieces I should prepare and also for what standard I should be prepared to sight read? I am in the South African reserve force, so I am not worried about the physical training. But any help with the audition would be super!
Thanks

Hello there,
I'm William...I originally posted this topic.

That was a longtime ago. I auditioned there November last year and was deferred. Grade 6 Musician, ots of Military experience but the Corps of Army Music are looking for Graduates of Music etc as in the top notch Musician's. I live opposite Kneller Hall.

Corps of Army is costcutting, 100 musician's to be sacked in time and 8 bandmasters are to go in due course.

I gave up with Army Musician and start Basic Training this October to join the Royal Logistic Corps.

I am very happy to help and advise you though as I have lots of experience with the CAMus. :)
