As I said there are clerks in the Para's that wear the Red Beret with the Regimental Wings in the Beret as they are attached to the Regiment, what they do not do is wear the wings on their shoulder that shows that they are Paratroopers.
These days you have countless specialist attached to the Regiment who are non combatants or who doing many other tasks that does not need a trained soldier to be doing.

I personally believe that the Para Band should wear the beret/cap badge as they are the Regiment's Band like any other Band within the Corps of Army Music does.

As you say they do not have the jump wings on their arm they have the Corps of Army Music TRF to show they are Musicians.

I'm seriously considering becoming an Army Musician.

I've been interested in joining the Para Band as well after Knellar Hall because I know a friend from uni who's working towards joining the Paras.

But if I can't get in, I'm thinking of either joining the Royal Signals or the RLC. Anyone know about how good the Royal Signal/RLC band is?

Even a topic about Army Bands as turned into a PARA, Hat, RM contest again. Mainly from people who ain't even joined yet so don't have a clue. This site is so sh*t I really don't know why I come on here, even if it is once a blue moon as I have a life.

Anyway the best band are the 2 Bands of the Household Cav. The Life Guards and Blue and Royals. Because they play the instruments while riding a f*cling Horse

By the way I've wore the Moroon Beret loads of times on excersise and on tour with 16AA. And the only parachuting I've done was on adventure training in Canada. Fat chiefs, Clerks of both Sexes also wear it when serving with 16AA so what who gives a toss. So many good young lads are loosing there lives and limbs and everything else in Afghanistan both PARAS and so called Hats that the whole argument is a load of bollocks
