Yes, and free as well.
You would return to duties as soon as your fit.
I was lucky mine burst in hospital, I would have been on a flight to Canada 4 hours later. Good job they burst when they did.

Lucky escape then I take it. I was in pain with mine all last night but i got around 2 hours sleep and when i woke up there was no pain just felt sore. I believe their called rumble appendix, I would also rather wait until tomorrow if i have to go to hospital as i have an interview at the careers office in the morning.

One of my friends started having pain on Thursday on the right side of her abdomen. The docs here sent her home and told her to go to hospital if it got worse, so she was on a ward saturday night, and made them let her come home on sunday because every other woman on the ward was over 80 and incontinent.
She was back in work today so it's obviously less painful, but she has to go back for a scan, as they aren't sure what the problem is.

Maybe it was something other than nothing, people (including doctors) don't seem to be 100% sure about them do they.

No, that's true! The docs here had no idea what was wrong with me when I was ill before Christmas, and didn't seem bothered that I couldn't eat for 9 days and lost over a stone and a half...
But never mind eh!

The standard of doctors and other medical staff does seem to vary from base to base...
