Para Fitness??

Post by ASH91 »

Hi everyone i am taking serious thought about joining the army I have finally come to the decision that i want to join the Infantry I was looking into the Rifles but know I am also looking at the Parachute Regiment and I am aware that you do have to be extremely fit to be a potential Para recruit so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the some good fitness tactics that could get me fit enough to get through Para Depot (I know I also have to put all my effort and heart into it 110%)
1. How Far I should Run & in what times??
2.Do Paras do heaves the same as regular Infantry or do they do Pull-ups?
3. How Many Pull-ups, Sit-ups, Press-ups, should I be able to do??
4. should I do any weight training??
5.what else could I do to get myself to a potential Para recruit fitness level??

Thanks for reading this everyone really hope you reply especially serving or ex para would be great thanks a lot really appreciated

There are plenty of threads on here about getting fit mate.

The only run time you need to be worried about is 9 minute 18 seconds for 1.5 miles. If you havn't gone to your local Army careers office i would suggest that you do so because they will be able to explain everything to you and get the ball rolling.

Why not give the Parachute Regiment Insight course a go? I did it months before i joined the army and it gave me a great idea of the fitness levels required and the mentality needed to become a paratrooper.
