Hi, I have my medical on the 08/05/08, which I clearly dont want to fail, so I thought id ask for some advice.
Despite having recent test results confirming I dont have Ceoliacs Disease Im still worried it might count against me. Tho its nothing I can change.
One thing I CAN change is my teeth.
Having not gone to a dentists for over 10 years, my wisdom teeth are at a peculiar angle and the pressure and lack of room in my mouth has crushed a Molar. 1/4 has fallen out, tho there is no infection nor pain unless I push down on the nerve.
I had asked my doctor to refer me to NHS to take them all out, but he wouldnt, I should go private.
I have popped down to the dentists but they want the best part of £700, unless I was unemployed!
Is this a potential fail/referral?

See a different doctor. Some of the lads on here have been fast tracked onto NHS physios and the like after they'd explained they were applying to the Forces. Get a second opinion, and make sure the bugger gets you referred.I had asked my doctor to refer me to NHS to take them all out, but he wouldnt, I should go private.
All the best with your medical, after they find out there's nothing wrong with you it's all down to how much you want it.

First off,
get your yellow pages out and call around for local Fang Bosuns.
Most will take NHS patients at about a third of the cost of going private.
You do not need a GP's referral.
I only know this because as a visitor from the colonies I've had to have some work done, not pretty but then I never was.

Hi, Thx
I'll definatly work on getting a referral, it seems my only option.
It just seems a bit wrong that because im not registered as a NHS dental patient they assume I can afford to go private, I cant.
None of the dentists will take on NHS patients unless im unemployed, somthing to do with criteria and targets no doubt.

I don't think you understand Wholley. NHS dentistry is a farce. I don't know what the figure is, but a high percentage of Britons are not covered. My family still goes to the dentist where we used to live before moving further north five years ago, all because there are simply no dentists where we live now that take new patients. Having an NI# has nothing to do with it. It's a postcode lottery if you have a dentist or not. You must have been very lucky.
