Post by commandocrazy »

Hi all just wondering if you could help me? I have a friend who I think was in the Engineers but has transferred to the Paras and is out there with them now. I was on his bebo page looking at his pictures he's took over there so far and on his left arm there is the 16 Air Assault brigade badge and on the other arm is a square the top half is red the bottom blue what does that badge mean? Hope someone can answer and thanks for reading :D

Think the red/blue patch may be DZ (drop zone) flash for 23 eng regt, who are part of 16 AA.

Not in the least bit sure though...

Certainly not a battalion dz flash for any of the para reg battalions..

2 para being blue, 3 para being green and 4 para black.

Have you tried this page?

http://www.army.mod.uk/16_air_asslt_bde/main_menu.htm

I can't get the insignia page to work for some reason but bash on mate!!

If you find out let me know as my curiosity has been piqued now!!

Yeah it's the one under 3 Para except on his arm the Para cap badge isn't on it just the colour and it's the 20th picture on alex4013's link

DZ flash. To identify which unit / battalion you belong to.

Red over blue is for 7 RHA if you mean like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Horse_Artillery

Or if you mean a light blue & maroon flash then it's...some unit I can never remember.

PS Those aren't para cap badges on their arms, they are para wings (showing you have done jumps course). Also, 7 RHA aren't Para Reg, though they are paratroopers.

How do you post a picture on here? I just tried to do it and realised it's harder than I thought.

That is the flash of the Para Reg training team at Catterick.

Wouldn't be wearing that on ops though, would you? Also I just remembered where I know the light blue & maroon flash from, isn't it worn by some of the P-Coy lines staff, Alfa?

I wasn't talking about the flash Commandocrazy said his mate was wearing, I was talking about the one on the Para website that just_me suggested. (on the link I quoted)

And as for P-Coy Staff wearing it, well all the Para Staff at Catterick wear it so yes it'd be the same.
