New guy

Post by talibanhater »

Hi everyone,
I'm Keiran 20 from Manchester, I'm hoping to join the Paras. I have selection on 10th April up in Scotland, dont know the name of the centre though as I'm still waiting for train tickets.

Anyway I was just wondering what the 1.5 mile runs like up there, is it a nice flat surface?

Also I'm a bit worried about the medical, I damaged my tendons in my right hand a few years ago and I cannot fully make a fist because the trigger finger and middle finger cant fully tuck in. I can however make a full fist if I use the other finger to push it down if you know what I mean. It doesn't stop me from doing anything with it though as I can use it as good as my left hand. I've got a note from my GP as backup saying he thinks I'm fine to do the selection tests. What are your thoughts on this guys?

Sorry about the long post, I'm just scared sh**less that I'll get deferred, as this is the only thing I want to do in life. It's all I've ever wanted to do.

My fitness is spot on there's no problems there it's just that I might not even get too show them my hand is fine because the medical is first.

Anyway cheers for taking the time to hear me get this off my chest, any comments much appreciated.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum mate. I think you should start by changing your Username, before the big boys get here.

I'm in the same boat as you mate, I have my ADSC on tuesday and my biggest worry is the medical. I broke my knee 6 years ago, it is 110% now to be honest it's stronger than my other as I have trained harder on it. I can do everything with it just aswell as my other knee, the only thing that stands out is the big scar from surgery and the clicking noises it makes when I perform squats. So yeah i'm shitting the medical - even though they didn't request any more info about it on my medical forms, and i'm reading all sorts of stories about people being rejected.
