Officer training and Hunter Company

Post by steveg16 »

Good evening guys, hope you are all well. I have done a search and looked on the Royal Marines website and have been unable to find my answer. I need to ring the AFCO on Tuesday anyway but for the time being does anyone know if injured YO's in training can be sent to Hunter Company?
From what i understand, for recruit training, if a man is injured or cannot keep up the pace he is sent to Hunter Company and may pass out with another troop at a later date. However, with YO's, entry is only in September so would you stay in Hunter until the following September?
Its not really relevant to me at the moment and i hope it never will be, just wondering what happens.

Any information would be great.
Regards, Steve

Yes, that's a good question because it's a new batch every September so who would you be with if you get back trooped?...All the other YO's from the previous September batch will be gone by then.

Interesting

You can be back batched and will get a post somewhere (possibly admin or learning a language etc) for the rest of the year, then join the next batch usually at a similar point of training. Not what you want to happen but at least the Corps looks after you if you're biffed!

Wow eh? That's both good news and bad news!!!

It sucks to have to wait an entire 12 months from injury or incomplete tests but it's good to see that once you're in, you're in (of course to some extent)

Thanks Scouser!!!

It probably wouldn't be a full 12 months you're waiting, unless you get injured at the very beginning of training - which would probably mean you're out on your arse anyway.

e.g. Get injured 7 months in, 2 months recovering and you're only weeks away from starting again after building upto strength again in Hunter Company. While not the best of situations at least you're still given a chance.

Don't Officers get a three strikes and out policy? If they fail an exercise they can hardly go back and do it again. Just wondered if that was true?
