RMR and other questions

Post by karlbfc »

I have been looking round the forum and I'm not totally sure on some of the abbreviations.

RMR=Royal Marine Reserves right? But what do they do are they like the army cadets or sumet?

AIB what is that? Aid In battle ( just a random guess :P)

And RMFA what is that? (Royal Marine Fitness Assesment?)

RMR= Royal Marine Reserves. They are the RM's equiviliant/ version of the TA (heard of them?) They are NOT Cadets. Have a look on the RMR Forum on MFAT, there will be more info there or look at this: http://www.royalmarines.mod.uk/units-an ... /index.php

AIB is the Admiralty Interview Board. Any Officers wishing to serve in the Royal Navy, Royal Navy, Royal Naval Reserve an Royal Marine Resveres must pass the AIB. Consult the AIB diaries on MFAT. How did you get to Aid in Battle??!?!?!

You've answered your own question for RMFA. Somebody who has done a PRMC or POC can give you the pass marks required. OR you could use the search button.

Which quite nicely brings us full circle. You want to be in the Royal Marines but want all your answers on demand. Go out and find them yourself THEN if you don't understand or have a question then post a thread. I suggest you start here:

http://www.royal-navy.mod.uk

That should answer a few questions. You've asked some bone ones on here already but asking if the RMR are cadets is just stupid when the answers are already on this site.

Sorry, dude but is that not the point of this forum? To share information so I thought I would ask a few questions if you had a problem with it or them you didn't have to answer did you?

karlbfc don't bite. Yes, these forums are here for information but it becomes tedious when there are unbelievable numbers of threads for the same question and most people just end up answering with links to past threads. The information is there, you just have to search for it using the search button (funnily enough!).

Oddly there is and article on the daily telegraph website about how students now want quick fixes when it comes to information because they have become so used to google and wikipedia!

Be nice OK? As Dave has stated the search button is a real boon when looking for answers ref your questions concerning the Royal Marines training regime. Because your questions have been asked time and time again.

Time for the three miler, 3 miles in 30 minutes. And thats in lightweight rig during your PRMC. When you do it in recruit training you do it with 35lbs of weight (Full Fighting Order) plus rifle and rig (uniform, as in all the gear you wear including boots) on. So it works out at 10 minutes per mile. You run on the flat, quick march on the hills and run on the downhill bits. Tis called SPEED MARCHING.

Come the Commando tests you have to do 9 miles in 90 minutes. OK? Sorted out now? Good! Crack on then! And please, pretty please if you want to know all about Press ups then use the search facility, I beg you!

eh, I dont think thats right mate
3 mile run: The first physical test is on the morning of Day 1. The whole 3 miles is run as a squad. This is your opportunity to show the team how well your training has gone. The main aim is to complete the 3 miles in 22.5 minutes or you will fail the course.

On the PRMC it is 22.5 minutes in trainers, the POC guidance notes suggest 7 minute miles in trainers are the rough equivalent of 8-10 minute miles in boots, which is the obvious goal - although as far as I am aware boots are not used for recruits until they start RT.
