Jump rope training

Post by designervision »

How good is jump rope training and what exactly does it improve?

I bought one with a counter and gave it a go. Worked my arms and heart mainly.

Thanks,
Sam.

It works :

legs (especially calf’s), arms a little, Cardio system, co-ordination all very useful, I use it to warm up for running and also at boxing.

Love it personally... we also do weighted skipping at boxing (wrist and ankle weights or if you have on a vests)

You can make it as tough as you like, double under, crossovers , high knees, side swings, amongst other movements.

I use a JJB (gold gym) speed rope, one tip I would give is where the handle meets the rope put a little bit of duck tape round it to stop it wearing the rope down and snapping.

Yeah what he said,.. It also helps to develop hand eye co-ordination! If you are having trouble getting the rythmn try just doing sets of 20 seconds or so, to build up your technique.
