Hi All,
I am new to this forum and find it really helpful.
Earlier this year I did my medical and PJFT for the marines and passed no problems. However before I went to do my medical I went to see my GP for a quick check up and asked him was there anything in my medical history that I should tell the Marines. He said that when I was about 8 (I can't even remember it) that he questioned if I had mild asthma and put me on an inhaler for a few months and the symptoms faded and I wasn't prescribed an inhaler in 16 years and NOT to say a word to the marines and he wouldn't either if they contacted him. So i went and did my medical and said nothing and passed easily, I blew 700 on the peak flow test. However I have to re-do the medical as I was injured before PRMC. So should I tell them this time about having mild asthma as a child and just do the spirometrey test or will they still have my medical records from a few months back and see that I previously said I never had it and boot me out the door.
As I said I haven't had an inhaler in 16 years and have no real problems at all. I can do 10km in under 40 minutes and exercise 6 days a week. Like most others I might get a little choked up in my sinuses and throat after a run but no wheezing. Does anyone else get a little choked up after a run. The doctor told me that it is normal, especially in our climate.
Has anyone any opinions on this.
Thanks for the advice

Don't try to hide it if it's on your medical record.
As far as I'm aware, asthma won't bar you from service if you've been symptom free for four years or more.
In your case you've been symptom free for four times as long, so it should be no problem.
Your medical may be a bit more thorough than it would have been otherwise though as they'll want to be sure that your asthma is gone.

Its ok. I have never been diagnosed with Asthma, but I know I do have mild symptoms. Im not in the BEST running shape yet.....would take me about 48 minutes to hit 10 kms.
However I have the same problem as you, I need to blow my nose and spit a lot when I run from mucus build up. It is quite common in a lot of runners, so I doubt the Marines will care, specially in some harsh weather.
