Went to the AFCO today and gave in my application form, basically i told him that i havnt been running for a month or so because of shin pains and i told him i had a doctors appointment this friday. The Marine that was on duty who took my forms said that i should be careful about going to the doctors because if certain things are on your medical records then it could possibly stop you from getting in. The pains are getting better slowly but surely so now im thinking about just cancelling the appointment and waiting, on the other hand could it really stop me from getting in just by telling the doctors i have slight pains in my shins?
Anyone been in a similar situation or any advice would be good.
Cheers,
Dave

He's right mate. I mentioned to my careers advisor about a little bit of knee pain I had fealt only once when running and they made me go and see a specialist in portsmouth which added 6 months onto my joining process. And I didnt even have anything on my medical records. It's hard to give advice to be honest mate because I don't know you or your personal circumstances, but what the marine said about may not get in depending on your medical records is right. If it's shin splints you've got I don't think theres much that can be done by a doctor. Do a search on it on google, theres been a lot of talk on the subject on here. I can't really say whats good or bad because I never had shin splints myself. Good luck.

Just go private with it straight to a podiatrist, the way I found the best one was to go into a proper running shop and get them to tell me who the best podiatrist around is.
I had a long colourful history with shin splints that didn't stop them from letting me in, and I had seen a couple of podiatrists.
