Prince william
I've heard that prince william is going in for the SAS. Found this article:
British royal PRINCE WILLIAM could embark on a military career in the British Army's Special Air Service (SAS) after passing a number of gruelling selection tests for the specialist regiment.
The 23-year-old, who began training at Sandhurst Military Academy in January (06), completed a demanding cross-country exercise in Wales last week (begs13FEB06) where he was forced to march across hilly terrain for three days without sleep.
A Sandhurst source says, "Not everyone was selected. Just the fittest and the best.
"William got through because of his extraordinary level of fitness."
If the royal is serious on joining the prestigious force, he will face more challenging selection rounds before being taught the specialist SAS commando techniques of warfare.

What's the point?
Even if he gets through (fair play if he makes it) they'll just stick him in nuke-proof office surrounded by superheroes. If they won't let Harry on the front line in Iraq or Ganners what are the chances they are going to let him behind enemy lines where the chances of capture are much higher.
I do feel sorry for the guy really, I'd hate it if it were me. Then I remember how rich he is and stop feeling so sorry.

Aways look on the bright side of life.
It must be tough for him, I mean all of his life he hasn't been able to do the stuff normal teenager/ young men do and in a way this is the same. I did here quite a funny comment made a while back by some of the lads who are serving with him at the moment. apparently they dubbed him 'the ginger bullet magnet' (this was at the time he was looking to go out to Iraq). But sadly it rings true.
If he did go out to a war zone sadly he would be targeted and it would be rather hard to cover up his tracks if he did get sent out to any danger zones for any great length of time.
Stokey

Thats what always makes me laugh, the papers print the plans, then they'll reveal to us in a months time that the enemy have 'somehow' got hold of these plans, they obviously aren't sure where from however; then they're the complaining when he can't go to war. What I don't get is why isn't there a ban on press coverage, like there was for William going to uni?jammin87 wrote:The Times last week reported that Prince Harry might be going to Afghanistan from an exercise in Canada so as to not draw unwanted attention. The fact a newspaper got hold of that probably hasn't helped the secrecy.
Pfft my a**, I bet he'll be the next Chris RyanBritish royal PRINCE WILLIAM could embark on a military career in the British Army's Special Air Service (SAS) after passing a number of gruelling selection tests for the specialist regiment.

4 years
don't you have to have served for 4 years anyway before you can undergo selection? hasn't the prince only got like a year under his belt?if so then he can't be on selection...

Sorry got to disagree there fella! Correct me if I'm wrong but 99% of the regiments operations are covert, so how could they be a target?! They sneak in through the back door, get the job done and offski, not to be seen againmark22 wrote:I don't know how long he has been in, but personally i think the SAS will be more of a target if he does get in.
