Hi everyone

Post by Billy_C »

Hello to all,

Im new to the forum, my name is Billy and Im from Suffolk. I served with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards from 1981-1985 until i moved to a different part of the army, i left the army in 1998 and soon found myself working for a private contractor in Iraq. In 1999 I came back to sleepy Suffolk and now work as a private investigator.

I've been browsing the forum for a while now and looks like a great place where i can help others with my extensive military experience and come back to good old army banter!

Cheers

Billy

It good to be here!

Ive just PM'd 'Admin', Im not sure if this was the correct person to contact but i assume so?

Taking things as a pinch of salt is a basic requirement for any serving or ex-military personnel!

hello, welcome

As it happens, I watched a programme on private military contractors in iraq just last night. Very interesting and dangerous stuff. I don't have a clue how many private security firms are in Iraq at the minute (im guessing a lot) but the programme was based on a 3 companies - one being 'Hart Security' but i forget the other 2.

Hi

Its a dangerous job but well worth the £500 + a DAY! I was very lucky to survive a year, I know many who wernt as lucky :( it works as a one month on, one month off rota system. Id say there were 5 main security contractors and if anyone was thinking about it only join the main 5 as a few of them have a support 'company' if the *beep* hits the fan!
