Thought it best be time I sign up to these forums and make a post, as I’m about to embark on the long hard journey to becoming a Royal Marine Commando.
A bit about me, a typical guy in his mid twenties 8gces (math English inc) to my name wanting to join the forces. Bored of working, living civvy street for 7 years, mucked about by women, finding it hard to find friends you can trust, crappy job lack of challenges all the usual. Life has become very stagnant. Thought it about time to do something productive with my life that myself and my family can be proud of.
Been doing sport martial arts since the age of 10, so I don’t give it the big one out on the town, but I feel its built fitness, discipline strength of mind, self respect, and on tap controlled aggression when needed I’m hoping these qualities will get me through the massive task ahead only time will tell I guess. I also enjoy football rugby but not all that great at either, a good laugh though.
I’m 5’9 and 62kg with very strong quads, abs and lower back, average CV, but lacking upper body My training is circuits set up for full body workout, with endurance in mind, lots of reps mainly using my body weight as resistance for now some very light weights from time to time, road running and swimming I’m breaking into slowly as both I’m pretty new too, lessons being taken in swimming to help.
Which brings me on to. Security clearance, this is my biggest concern
I’ll keep training away and get the wheel rolling, just its niggling in the back of my head, I am prone to worrying a lot though, I do keep picturing myself sometime next year wet through freezing my nuts of on dartmoore looking at my current worries wondering what all the fuss was about compared to what’s in store
I’ll keep you all informed how that goes and the rest of my training, application and all round progress.
Nice meeting you all.
Lex
