Thoroughly annoyed. I'm 18 in 6 months time, and I probably will end up finishing college if I have to wait 6 months. Oh well, I suppose it's all for the best. Anyone manage to get this round their parents? Fookin ell...

Parental consent
Can you believe it? Apparantly someone told my parents that they're supposed to do the best for me, and so they won't sign the parental consent form because they want me to finish college. As if.

what if the marines donesnt work out.
I am not by any mean implying that it wont im sure youll do fine, but, if you do rush in and flunk out, you would be sitting on your arse with no college qualifications.
Its probably for the best mate... and look on the bright side, its 6 more months you can use for getting fitter.
Best of luck.

If it is only six months mate I’d listen to you’re parents, its six months training, six months life experience and at the end of it you'll have a some decent qualifications under you’re belt.
After all what is six month's in the grand seem of things? I feel sometimes like I just want to go off join the Corps and become what I’ve dreamed of being since before I could remember, but what I keep reminding my self is that in 3 years and 10 days (yes my birthday is coming up... all money and presents to be sent by royal mail first class
) I will be fitter, smarter more able to cope with life in general and hopefully will have had plenty of good times as a teenager (I.E. lived my life to the full) before going of on what will be I'm sure, a life changing journey to becoming a Royal Marines Commando.
I no it's not quite the same... I’m too young to join anyway I seriously (seriously!) doubt any body under sixteen could hack RT etc but the principles are the same, It your life so you are the only one who can know what’s best but in my opinion I think that six months would be best spent going out having a great time, training hard and gaining "life experience" (Currently cringing at those words
)
Of course it up to you all in all you get out what you put in so good luck I’m sure it will be fine remember its only six months!
Hope I've helped in some way (I understand I'm only a young'un so my advice is with out evidence but from what limted knowlage and personal experiance I have. I think you'd be best of finishing collage)

If you think about it, whats the harm in staying another 6 months at college.... gives you more time to train and work on your fitness and as Scottya said, you will have more qualifications which will perhaps help you later on in life
As for getting round the parents thing, I went via my step dad
. But Im over 18 so didnt really need parent approval but I wanted the support from my mother and by talking to my step dad he managed to talk her round.
Naturally your parents (probably more your mother yeah?) will be a bit worried about you going off to join the forces when they watch the news and know little about the RM but the best thing to do Id say sit down, talk, show them the info and booklets the AFCO give you and... well hope for the best
.
But if it was me, id stay and get the qualifications, but hey, thats just my view.
