Because he dosn't want you to join it?
To my knowledge it's best to join the paras but somebody will probable tell me wrong in the next post.

What role are you thinking of joining in the army?

Not trying to have a go or owt but I'd seriously consider sorting out your spelling. The mods here will chew you up like a terrier if you keep it up. I've been drinking plenty tonight and I'm still able to make an effort, show some respect for others and do the same, because it's an eyesore reading it ;)

I agree with Stinky join the paras (2 or 3 para) do your 4 years they see if you still want to do special forces selection, I am in the middle of applying for 3 Para and my ACIO is also in 2 Para and he says 53% of Paras go on to pass sas selection.

P.S dont be telling many people that you want to go into the SAS I was doing that till the lads here told me to dial it down a bit  anyway good luck in what ever you choose.

Nothing relly they are just different battalions but are both in Essex and are the same altogether there is 1 Para (Special Forces Support - need to have served at least 4 years in 2 or 3) 2 Para, 3 Para and 4 Para (part time T.A) and you only need 30 to be in the Parachute Regiment infantry.

fed?

I find this strange, I'm not saying I don't believe you but if I told my mum or dad I wanted to join the SAS I would get one of two reactions.
1. They wont believe me or
2. They will be very happy for me.
Do you mind me asking why he dosn't think you should aim high? I wouldn't be worried about the minimum of 4 years service if you are, the forces isn't a job, it's a career and if SAS is what you want, I bet you would just enjoy those 4 years and be glad that once you are in the SAS, you are not working with people who have only just filled in the application form for the army if you see what I mean.

I have a friend who drive the challenger 2 and he says it's a lot of fun, you do get cramped but he enjoys his time in the army and where he is training (I think Germany at the moment), you should enjoy it. Although if I was selecting who I think should go in the SAS, a tank driver wouldn't be my first choice but then again, I doubt you have much of a time limit so you can afford to try something out first. I wish you luck.
